Amy Lee Johnson

Amy Lee Johnson was born in Irving, Texas, on November 21, 1973. On January 24, Amy passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amy attended Grapevine High School and continued on to Baylor University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies. Her degree and passion for children led her to a job at Cook Children’s in Fort Worth, where she served for over 20 years as a Child Life Specialist, walking through illness and injury with thousands of children. She spent her career standing in the gap between the innocent children and their incomprehensible circumstances, and allowed for greater understanding, purpose and peace for the families involved. She could never know the extent of the families she impacted, but her legacy lives on in large part by the many lives she touched. Known by family and friends for her heart of gold and light-hearted but courageous spirit, Amy always wore the biggest, most contagious smile that drew people to herself. This tenacious optimism was ultimately rooted in her belief in the saving grace of Jesus, and she lived out her faith daily in service and love of others. Her favorite verse in the Bible is descriptive of her buoyant, unwavering faith. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11. She was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Amy is survived by her son, Jack Johnson; husband, Steven Johnson; mother, Mary Louise Mathews; father, Dale Mathews; sister, Kimberly Nielsen; nieces, Katy Lou and Maggie Nielsen; nephew, Lane Nielsen; and mother-in-law, Gale Johnson. Amy’s celebration of life will be Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Trickle Creek Ranch on Old Brock Road in Weatherford. Her desire was to be celebrated and remembered, so she asked for guests to wear bright colors and spend time recounting stories and enjoying fellowship with each other.
